Apart from small aquatic crabs what crabs can you keep as pets ??? As far as i know there's no crabs you could have as tactile pets.

My mate who owns a pet shop has a tortoise called bobby Laughing , decent pet for a youngster i suppose but they cost a fair bit. Think you pay about £200 for a box tortoise.

Tortoise, when the kids get bored they could spin it on its shell

Kept me entertained all the way through nursery Wink

I'm a reptile keeper, so have partial knowledge of tortoise needs like UV, diet, Heat ect. The cost of equip and the tortoise is expensive and they kind of live forever (seems like it anyway) so make sure you do a good bit of research first.

Have you looked at Rainbow crabs? They look fantastic and ive always fancied a few myself (my local reptile shop always has them in). They are a land crab, so only require a water dish as apposed to a semi-aquatic enviroment.......might be easier to set up.

Link to some basic Rainbow Crab info: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/show_article.php?article_id=426

Link to a detailed caresheet about Mediterranean tortoises: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/cheloniauk/CareofhatchlingMediterraneantortoises.doc

Hope this helps, but if you fancy a lizard PM me and i'd be happy to offer advice on a starter one Smile
