BOOKED A LAST MIUTE HOLIDAY TO FLORIDA. ANY TIPS APPRECIATED

Just bookes last minute family trip to florida and never been before, just in process of getting a villa. Think its too late to book tickets to Disney so will probably have to get them out there.

Any tips on best place to get tickets and other places to go would be great.

Pat

Where are you looking to stay on your hols? We've just come back and had a great time.

If you are in Orlando area you are pretty centrally located to hit both coasts for a day out. Space coast and Meritt Island are well recommended.

Park tickets are pretty good value over there. The exchange rate helps alot, so don't worry. I would recommend a good road map if you are to do lots of driving. The freebies just didnt have enough detail for such a huge place.

Have a great time.

Any purchases made by me are on the grounds that I own the original, if not the backup will be destroyed within 24 hours.

we went to the gulf coast beach at clearwater- quite a lively resort- depends what you want but a beautiful beach. theres another resort called st petes beach just south of there which we never made because we got lost!

st pete- the city east of the resort is good for half a day with a really nice centre and the dali museam if you like art. i dont but enjoyed the place immensly.

on the east coast, youll find kennedy space centre which is good. it is situated in the middle of a nature reserve called merrit island which is beautiful and very quiet. there is a big beach there but we didnt go.

around that area is a smallish resort called cocoa beach we really liked it there and the beach was very nice. felt less commercialised than the gulf coast (if you can be uncommercialised in the us!) dont miss the huge surf shop ron johns.

ive heard that the beaches south of st petes on the west coast are good- around naples and sarosota though we didnt get there- its a long way from orlando.

one other thing- if there's a clothes shopper in the party- you must set aside a few hours to go to Ross Dress for Less. theres one at the top of i-drive and one off the 192 in kissimee. extremely cheap- often branded clothes.

...and the mcdonalds burgers taste better!!!

enjoy it.

good choice m8 - after the hustle and bustle of orlando you will be amazed at the small town feel at siesta key and the restaurant are great - i stayed in a condo which was great and have already booked the same one for next may already

one thing i will warn you of and its the same for all the beach resorts - its not a late night early morning disco sort of place - most restautrants are closed by 10pm, there are few bars that are open till the early hours but the entertainment is very low key - suited us as we want to just chill and crack open a bud

i like it cos i like bud anyway but if your a bitter drinker its not much cop - in siestsa key theres a bar restaurant called salty old dog that sells british beer and guiness

there are alos alot of irish themed restautants both in orlanda and at the beach that sell briitish beer

don't worry m8 i am sure you will find something you like

ive been to kennedy space station twice , id recommend there

Twice when ive been there, they launched rockets and saw them on the horizon from my hotel balcony. awesome.

Also Gator world i think, is good place to call in on ur way to the airport going home to fill a few hours depending on ur flight times

well done m8 youve got a bargain there

getting from orlando to siesta key is easy - straight on the i4 heading for tampa and then the i75 heading towards clearwater / sarsota / venice - if you get off the i75 at jcn 205 you then bear right onto a straight road to siesta key ( clarke road than turns into stickney point road ) and then at the end midnight pass road than runs parallel to the beach

if i will give one peice of advice its when you arrive at the villa do not be tempted to go straight to bed ( nor the kids~) stick it out as late as you can - if you don't you will be up at 2am for the next three days
