What brands are you looking at here?
What brands are you looking at here?
I was looking at some of the in dash DVD players on eBay but was out off by the fact that they are an unknown brand and most are shipped from the Far East.
Therefore I would recommend getting a cheap well known brand name in dash CD player which is mp3 compatible as these can now be picked up for around £100 – so you’re sorted if you can fit it yourself.
With regard to how many songs you would be able to fit onto a dvdr disc of mp3s if we say that each song is encoded at 128k and is about 3.5 Megs in size then you would be able to fit 1342 songs on to a 4.7 GB disc.
It is entirely up to you and I do know that there are well known manufactures that do in dash DVD players such as alpine but these have always been mega expensive wherever ive looked.
i see a really strange branded dvd in a merc it was a dvd unit rather than a indash very tiny though about the size of a hd but big enough to fit cd in and i was told u can take it out and wire it up to ur tv so dual purpose it was in the glove box with a cable tidyily out the back of glove box to a screen in the center console above a audio head and also linked to 2 in headrest screens with no wires visable was very tidy and worked well i got the info on it somewhere il try and find it and let you know.
just shows cheap isnt allways bad. _________________ My Refs!

Well those are the kind i was looking at LOL....i have a GREAT MP3 cd player at the moment, but just bought a new car, and i know its got a decent clarion head unit but not sure if its mp3. But was going to sell both for a well upgraded one, like a dvd if it could play mp3 dvds... with 4 gig of mp3 on it!!!
Would be ace!!! _________________ Backups are to be destroyed within 24 hours if the original is not owned
yep definitely dont go for the cheap ones m8, i bought one from ebay & had loadsa problems, took ages to arrive, was totally a different one to what I ordered & wasnt even region 2 lol. I didnt bother to send it back then i'd have to wait another 6 weeks, also didnt play dvd-rs or cdr's
Not worth the hassle m8 go for a Pioneer AVIC-X1, they maybe expensive, but their a good piece of kit!

yeah i seen for that price you would think it should lol!!! Could put a few music videos on a dvd tho!!! lol
I saw a post from some guy in america on another forum discussing the matter. he was slagged rotten for buying the head unit and thinking it should play mp3 dvd's!! Poor guy! He found a solution but he never did post it back!!! As for £1300 thats a bit out of my range...would rather get a plasma telly for house for that price! lol _________________ Backups are to be destroyed within 24 hours if the original is not owned
