are there any disadvantages in buying a us ps3 and using it over here as i have a chance of buying one on the cheap
e.g do the need any kind of converter and are all uk games compatable

think this has been asked quite a few times before....lol.

all games are currently region free so no problems there

US ps3 can only play region 1 dvds/blurays. not a problem if you watch backups. a lot of bluray films are also region free, but not all of them so youll have to check when you buy one

apparantly all ps3s have the same 110-240v transformer inside so should automatically adapt to the voltage wherever its used, but thats unconfirmed. most people say theres no problem with a US ps3 in the uk. youll just need to get a uk power cable with a uk plug on the end. about £2. theyre same as a pc power cable. i know some people have prefered not to take the chance and theyve bought a stepdown convertor. but then that will cancel out part of the savings you are making.


usually id recommend getting a second had uk ps3 off ebay. you can get them for around £220 and quite often have a few games and extra accessories. but if the US one is significantly cheaper then go for it.
