It's the original model iPod TOUCH (is the new one any better? why?)

It is still on software version 1.1.4 BUT iTunes says there is an update to 2.1 available

I did jail break a few iPhones when they had that price crash - but sold them on - so know hlaf what to expect.

BUT that was some time ago now. So have forgotten most of what I learnt AND surely things have moved/changed a bit since then?

So am wondering is there a definitive and easy way of jail breaking it these days?

And are all the apps that I can install after that ALL available on that installer apps thingy? or is there a better place to get them from?

Oh and whilst looking for the definitive answer - I remember there were two ways of doing this (well the iPhone at least).. ZiPhone OR iLiberty.

ZiPhone was always thought to be dangerous if it went wrong..

Which method ended up being the best/safest ?

Or is there something else I should use for the iPod TOUCH ?

OK I just bit the bullet and took a flyer. I'm too impatient to wait for an answer

I used Ziphone and it went swimmingly

Think most people stopped using ziphone as 9/10 it would work ok but it could brick your phone/ipod
