For many years now we have booked our holidays ourselves ie. booked flights, found accommodation and sorted out transfers etc....

We've done this instead of paying the ridiculously high travel agent prices.

This year I did the same again, booking an apartment from someone I thought I could trust.

Turned out to be a complete nightmare. The apartment was in a Residential area and 10km away from the main resort centre which we werent informed of BEFORE going away. Normally I do lots of reasearch on the area and accommodation before booking but this year I stupidly trusted the person who own the apartment.

It turned out to be a very expensive holiday for the 7 of us who went. We couldnt stay in this apartment as my 70yr old disabled mum was with us and in a wheelchair. No matter which way you looked it was either building sites, rubble on pavements or pipes laying across the paths and roads which made it impossible to get the wheelchair over.

The apartment itself wasnt what it was made out to be either. It was 3 bedroomed but 2 of the bedrooms didnt have windowns and the smaller one had a washing machine and microwave in the corner. There wasnt a wardrobe in this bedroom just a white cupboard which was full of the owners private items thus leaving nowhere to hang or put clothes in this bedroom.

I have asked for a partial refund from the owner but he isnt playing ball and says he hasnt misinformed us of anything which quite clearly he has. I have said I will accept £130 refund which isnt even half of what we paid him to rend the apartment but he is still refusing.

I dont feel as I should be the one bending over backwards to sort this out when in fact we trusted this person and he abused that trust. I have now had to go into town this lunch time to speak to my solicitor regarding the whole issue. We luckily did take photographs of all the points I have spoken about to the owner and all correspondence has also been passed onto her but it shouldnt have to come to this.

I'm just posting really to make people aware of the dishonest poeple out there who are only interested in lining their pockets with your hard earnt money. The money we paid for this apartment is going towards the owners own holiday next year at a cost of £6000 for himself alone!!!

We ended up having to spend a further £1400 ontop of what we had paid already to find suitable accommodation and transport but the owner is refusing to acknowledge any problem so please do your research BEFORE booking anything private yourselves. Research the area, surrounding areas and the accommodation itself before commiting to anything.

I would hate anyone to spend 2 days of their holiday in misery like we did due to trusting someone.

I would NEVER book anything without checking, double checking and triple checking the area, surrounding areas and the accommodation itself after my experience.

I always have checked when we've booked before and done plenty of research but this one time I didnt it turned out disastrous so yes, even if you think you can trust people check it out before booking.

sometimes you get what you pay for.. his site did look professional though!! Have had a somewhat similar experience in france from a friend.. where we had to clean the whole apartment before we could go to sleep.. have never booked from a friend since and have never had a complaint either! wonder how many of this site stayed there?

We always book indapendently,we went to salou 4/5 times and only had one bad experience.
We landed at reus airport at 23:00 hours and were meant to meet the owner of the appartment at a bar down the road at midnight.We get there with suitcases and kids in tow and there was no sign of her.she did turn up aventualy but was a realy worrying experience.
All in all Trace i think you just had a bad one m8.Put it down to expierence.

I have put it down to experience and wont make the same mistake again but its just so annoying that it cost us an extra £1400 and he is flatly refusing to refund a penny becuase hes too busy thinking of lining his own pockets.

Apparently other members from here have been to his apartment and only given him praise and good comments and have rebooked for next year. Thats fine if thats the sort of holiday they like but he needs to get real and realise that not everyone will like it and accept that his website was rather misleading. The photo's of his apartment were very cleverly taken so as not to show a washing machine, microwave and boiler in one bedroom!! 2 of the bedrooms didnt even have external windows which was also covered up on the photos.

777marmalade - apparently hes going to Hong Kong and staying in a 5* hotel Well I certainly hope he can enjoy his holiday knowing where the moneys come from.

I have been to see my solicitor and she has advised me that I can claim the money back from him and also money for distress and upset caused which I am going to do so it will end up costing him a lot more than the refund I requested in the long run.

It's a shame he wasnt adult enough to sort this out quickly and fairly for both parties instead of messing me around and demaning that I return his keys first. He was adult enough when he was taking my money.

Sorry to hear about your dissapointment Tracey ..

All i can say is that we had a good holiday in Babbsy's apartment in August .. and to be fair, the only building work going on whilst we there was widening the main road and also they were working on the bridge/underpass that you go under to go to the beach .. There was no buliding work around the apartments or any where else at that time .. He also went out of his way to arrange transfers etc. for us

I did say on his post, on our return, that i would recommend anyone to hire a car as it is a quiet area, which is what we wanted .. I found there were a fair few shops locally, from bars to supermarkets .. furthest was 5 mins walk away .. We took my wifes 70 year old Mother with us (i must have killed a nest of robins in a previous life to deserve that !) she just found it a bit too hot was all ..

I know what you are saying about the bedrooms, but we found them okay as after all, all you do i sleep in them .. and we used the wardrobes in the two main bedrooms and found that there was enough space for 5 adults stuff.. there was also a sofa bed in the living room .. We had an all inclusive holiday last year that cost us well over £3,500 and THAT, believe me was a nightmare .. we had 3 adults in ONE tiny room with a SINGLE wardrobe between all of us, this was meant to be a FOUR star hotel as well .. And the holiday company and rep didnt want to know ..

What is a good holidy for some is not for others .. we all have different expectations i believe .. I for one just wanted a quiet relaxing time and thats what i got, in a comfortable apartment that i could chill out in ..

Can only relate my experience with this place .. and it was okay for us ..

Must disagree strongly with what Tracy has posted about the apartment in La Zenia.we went in august this year and all i can say is that we had a great time.there was some building work going on on the bypass but that affected us not one bit.we landed at about 9oclock and then got a bit lost getting to the apartment my fault as it was the first time i had driven in spain but when we got there at midnight someone was there to greet us and show us around the apartment.the bedrooms were a little basic but what can you expect for the price and all you do is sleep in them anyway.
all in all the apartment was clean and tidy the area was nice the beach was excellent and the local pubs were very friendly.babbsy kept in touch before and after our holiday and went out of his way to sort things out for us before arrived.there was seven of us that went from 10 years old to 45 years old and everyone enjoyed themselves.so dont judge before you see remember there are always two sides to a story and opinions are like arseholes-everyone has one.

I'll say the same on this thread as Ive said on the one in General which has been dug up after over 3 weeks.

The apartment and the area were both $hit as far as I'm concerned.

Dont do Babbsys dirty work for him by posting on here to save him the time and the trouble. If he had been man enough to speak to me this could have been sorted out but no, he couldnt do that.

The most hurtful thing about this whole thing is that this holiday nightmare turned out to be the last holiday my poor mum would ever have and it was ruined by him not being 100% honest about things.

If he has anything to say he knows my email address, phone numbers and msn addy and has done for months so leave it at that.

This was over and done with until Babbsy decided to enlist the help of other people to try and fight his corner...........

Adult enough to take money but not adult enough to sort any problems out , thats my issue here and has been all along.

Nothing to do with different expectations - more to do with him not being 100% honest from the start and not giving a $hit once he had our money.

All seems rather insignificant now under the circumstances anyway........
