Drives not seeing discs ?

Odd thing going on here. Just did a reformat (Windows XP) and everything seemed to be fine. Now I have a problem with my two drives not seeing any disc I insert. If I reboot then they will see what I put in the first time but all subsequent discs are not seen by the drives and I have to reboot again.

I have AnyDVD 6.4.5.0 and Clone DVD 2.9.1.5 installed.

Drives are both SATA, Pioneer 215 and a LiteOn LH-20A1S

Not had any problems previously.

Any suggestions ?

Have you installed the SATA drivers for the drives? Check your BIOS on boot and see if they are labelled as IDE or SATA drives, if IDE then you need to find your SATA drivers either on disc or online and install them.

Thanks. The SATA drivers should be installed since I had to install them before windows xp. I installed XP to a SATA drive. However I will check on reboot.

Errrm could be the software then, try the latest versions, or try non-cracked apps like freeware Imgburn. Which incidentally is the best out there for DVD burning!

I need something that will do retail to DVD5 and also copy Dual Layer to Dual Layer on the fly. As far as I know only clone cd will do the dual layer reliably..at least that's what I have used in the past and retail to dvd5 I have always used AnyDVD with Clone DVD.

If anyone can suggest a good alternative to the AnyDVD/Clone DVD combination I'd be happy to hear of it ?

Thanks

Nero won't do dual layer on the fly reliably and also doesn't rip retail to DV5. Great for compilations and normal disc to disc though Smile

Ah well I've done a couple of DL on the fly fine with Nero bud, admittedly not loads but the ones I have done are fine.

Ripping retail to DVD5 is DVD Decrypter everytime! Every ripper I know uses it, dead simple and never ever fails.

Ripping - DVD Decrypter
Burning - Imgburn
OTF - Nero...or if you don't trust it something like DVDFab
