Paypal just stung me

OK, I sold something to someone, my auction didnt offer recorded delivery, so I posted it normal post, and got proof of postage from the post office.

Well, the item never arrived, so the buyer put a paypal claim in, and even though I provided proof of postage, paypal took the money back off me and refunded her.

Aparantly, they are only interested in proof of delivery, if you cant prove that, they refund.

I appealed, but they denied my appeal after 3 weeks of faffing about.

If this is true, whenever I pay for something by paypal, if the item doesnt get posted by recorded delivery, I can say I never got it, put a claim in and get my money back??

I wouldnt do it, but it seems like paypal works like that. So I lost out on the item and the money. I'm gutted.

personally i now put that i will only send recorded, and if someone wants it sent normal then it is at there own risk!

not that the last part of that statement would stand up with paypal but i haven't had to send something normal post since. Smile

I only ever send Recorded or Special , its to easy for people to say its never arrived if you didnt and you havent got a leg to stand on. As a buyer i would only buy somethin that was sent recoerded anyway, same as i do on here, There can be no disputing wether it has or hasnt arrived then.

It only happens once and it is a lesson learnt. I sent something to a person on Disqworld. He claims that he never received it. And I cannot prove that he did not. Now when it is anything of value or an ebay item, for the extra few pence I send it 'Signed for'.

Its not always the buyers lying TBH anything over a £5 that i sell on ebay the customer has to pay for the recorded delivery in the postage prices over £30 its special delivery charges
Its made quite clear in the sale what they are paying for and what they should expect.

What really gets my back up is paying for recorded delivery and not getting it sent out recorded!

I ONLY post recorded, no matter what the value is.
Standard insurance is upto £36 but you can pay more and have it up to a higher amount.

When you send an item out recorded it is treated as first class mail and the only difference between that and a first class letter is that the recorded, when delivered will be signed for, the recorded item isnt tracked until it is signed for so whenever i send stuff out that requires signatures i always go for guaranteed delivery.

Always recorded or special, make it clear in your auction and nobody will complain at the postage cost, ive been ripped for "non delivery" soooo many times
