It would be nice if any tradesmen would be kind enough to compile a little FAQ of common Q&A's for their specific trade and then maybe we could organise them into sticky's per trade. Much easier for people to find the info they need then rather than lumping them all into one place.

Feel free to post in this thread or PM a moderator and we'll do the necessaries

tip 1 when drilling into a wall where there is lovely carpet or you can't int got a hoover works best on flat walls get an envelope with some sellotape stick to wall just below hole your goner drill crease the envelope then all the dust will fall into the envelope not on the floor works a treat try it

also for drilling...

I've got a bag full of Dust Bubbles for drilling. You can get them in B&Q and are very cheap. Bit fiddly to use at first but you soon get used to using them

drilling tiles

mark the ceramic tile and stick a bit of selotape on the mark. Then drill away. This stops the drill bit from sliding all over the place

water stains

as long as you have stopped the leak causing the stain

paint over stain with undercoat and leave for 24 hrs, then you can paint over with emulsion next day and it wont come back again.

Remember to shut the hammer action off on your drill until you get through the tile or you will crack it.
