THE VISUAL Networking Your Xbox
Ok heres a quick guide on networking your xbox to your pc so that you will be ready to copy your games.
First we need to make sure we have the following.
1. A Chipped and working xbox witha replacement dashboard ( for the purposes of this tutorial I will be using Slayers Evo-X 2.5)
2. A cross over network lead that will reach from you xbox to your pc.
3. A pc with a network card.
4. A small amount of knowledge on networking on the abilty to search on the subject (All the answers are available on this forum somwhere)
-------------------------
Step 1.
Assign your pc's network card witha static IP of 192.168.0.1 and a C class subnet mask (255.255.255.0)
Step 2
Connect your Xbox to your pc vis the cross over cable.
Step 3
Power up your Xbox usuing the chips bios without the Dvd Drive empty ( How to do this will depend on the type of chip installed but most are done by holding the power button for 2-3 seconds)
Step 4
Go into system Management from Evo-x
Step 4
From System Management Screen select System Setting
This will put you into the Settings / Info Page
Step 5
Under Network set the following
Setup Network = YES
IP = 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway = 192.168.0.1 ( The IP address of your PC)
Step 6
Scroll Down to FTP on the Settings \ Info Page and set the following.
FTP = YES
Password = you can leave this at default of Xbox or change it to what you would prefer it to be.
In Game Reset = YES
Step 7
This is were most people go wrong they just goto exit, What you actually need to do is scroll down to Save and Exit
Step 8
Restart your Xbox into Slayers Evo-X. Now on your PC open up a command prompt( Start>Run and type cmd and press enter).
Then in the black screen that appears type in
ping 192.168.0.2 and you should get four replies from your xbox. If you dont go back over the steps and check all your settings.
Also to test to see if you can ftp on to your xbox copy the following into Internet Explorer ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.2:21 or click on it(if working from the same mahine)
Providing you didnt change the password if you did change the 2nd xbox to what ever you set the password to.
Thats about it for networking your xbox to pc (it has probably taken me longer to write this tutorial than it will take you to actually perform the task. _________________
