I've tried both the CD and the DVD version. Does anybody know more about this and whether it is just an issue with the new slimlines?

I got a Crystal modded Slimline - and I cant get the DISC ID Utility to work either - both DVD and CDR versions - but i fortunate enough to have access to an older PS2 and the util does work....

this is only the start of the fun of getting Online to work on your modded PS2 ....

what chip you using ??

With Crystal in Slim - this is how I went about doing things :

Got latest version of the Crystal BIOS from that Eurasia website.

Booted my PS2 in Sleep mode and did all the network configuration and the Sony Online registration.

Downloaded DVD Decrypter and then Image Patcher 1.6. Followed some of the instructions on http://www.******.com/on-line.html and completed the Patch process (even though I had to use another PS2 to get discidutil to work).

Wrote the image using Alcohol and then booted the game (the two I tried were Need For Speed Underground2 and Star Wars Battlefronts). They both work fine online - but had some issues with the media - just went back and wrote at a slower speed.

For some reason if I boot the PS2 in the enhanced mode with an original game - the DNAS fails. Dont know if this an isolated problem as only had a few goes at trying this - just knocked the machine into sleep for origs.

This still work? just done burnout 3 with the code from here with the missing digits from an original game, gets through DNAS but then locks up the ps2 when it says "accessing network"

Also burned a copy with the full original code, does the same thing Sad

Also, not sure why but I am getting a different code from syphon filter than what people have posted on the net, were they are getting

Disc ID = XX XX 00 40 B4

I am getting

Disc ID = XX XX 02 40 D4

I am using swap magic discs for now, could this be why? will have a matrix infinity machine with me soon so will retry it then

Cheers
