gen 3 trial
First time tried these discs as unbranded had no success with them at all
but the ones i have just tried are great work fine on ps2 with no skipping as you get with cheap discs (bulkpack).I have just ordered another 25 to try out on games . _________________ Any backups supplied to you by us are supplied on the understanding that you own the original copy, if you do not, then you must destroy the backup copy as supplied within 24hrs as a sample copy

compatability database
How about trying to build a set top compatability database? I'm sure that we all have friends who have asked us to backup their "legally obtained originals" Obtaining the make and model no's and posting them should not be too much of a chore. What do you guys think? (please don't flame me if it's a bad idea I'm only new and very delicate!)

I tried burning two movies on the two samples I got.
The first I've not yet watched (I will tomorrow and update my post!) The second was a 130 min movie resized with Rempeg to fit the dvd-r. I used my Pioneer A04 burner with Prassi to burn the movie at 2x, and played it back in my Toshiba SD210E player. I was disappointed, as it gave me similar results on my player as the Princo dvd-r I'd tried. It started OK, but it wouldn't let me jump forward to a specific time in the movie (I could fast forward only). After about 10 minutes, I started getting artefacts jumping up all over the place, and the player sounded like it was struggling with the disk. On this evidence, I wouldn't get this disk again. However, I'm hoping that my first movie, which I did at 1x and was not resized (though this shouldn't affect it, as the file played back OK on my PC) will play back with better results.
Also, I've only recently got my burner, so am only just getting to grips with it (the whole learning process is sooooo much longer than with cdr due to the massive files and coding times, etc!).
.....An update.... The other disk I did is also no good, though I'm guessing that was also done at 2x. Unfortunately, these were two of the first dvd-r's I had done since getting my burner, so I probably wasted them both! I've been using White Label dvd-r's which have been excellent, but only if burnt at 1x. I don't think my test is worth taking into consideration, as I probably ruined them both through inexperience. However, I am very much up to speed now, so if more are going begging.....!
