please help "damp proof"
please help i got i drive put in at the front of my house actually last summer , and ive noticed over the last couple of months there is damp at the base of my house just on the outside that runs about a metre up .The drive is block paving
and touches the outside of the house ,i know he put damp proof in between the drive and the house ,but the drive level
is about 1/2 inch below the air brick i know it should be at least 150 mil ,the front or the house is pebble dashed but only to about 4 coarses above the drive then there are bare bricks , should these be covered by a bitchimin or weather proof coating . The inside of the house is as dry as a bone because of the wall cavity. Does any one know of a quick fix as i need to paint the front of the house very soon

you can get a waterproof sealant which you just paint on for the outside which may help, but this does sound like you have restricted the airflow in some way,can you see the dampproof course and is your new drive below it,also double check the airbricks ,also check you havent got a drip from some guttering which is collecting where you see the damp all else fails try the watersealer. _________________ "Any backups supplied to you by us are supplied on the understanding that you own the original copy, if you do not, then you must destroy the backup copy as supplied within 24hrs as a sample copy"

Sounds like you may need to take a row of the block paviers out (the ones touching the house) and fill the gap with some Pea shingle, to allow water to drain away.
A friend of mine has just block paved a driveway for another friend of mine, and he didnt pave right up to the walls, instead he left about a four inch wide soak away.
Its never a good idea to butt anything up to your outside walls, unless you know for sure its well below the damp course.
best of luck with getting it sorted.
