lists of compatable discs for differant drives

do you have lists of what discs work well with which drives ? ie, which -R 8X disc works in a LG , or which + rw 4X works in a NEC for example .

i have some ridisc A grade go5's , 8X that my LG doesnt recognise as 8X but are fine at 4X .

maybe a list of this type would help reduce people having problematic discs as we all have to experiment till we find a suitable disc for our paticular drive

We did originally have a compatibility chart.

However, with the constant release of numerous discs/writers/firmware revisions, we found it impossible to maintain with any degree of accuracy.

You can usually research compatibility by using the search facility of decent forums such as this one. It is usually best to enter the writers model number into the search box and then select the relevant threads.

Try the DataWrite 8x with the Fuji dye. Seems to be doing wonders for most people.

My personal recommendation is to buy a sample pack from a retailer, which usually consists of various discs. Try out the one that suits you, and go with it!

Got to admit the 107 has been great on all media I've tried. Even the 1x ritek burn @ 6-8 speed without a problem.

G03 graph @ x6 is no difference than done x1. As going off on one, why does everyone use the hacked firmware?

I guess they do it to write x1 @ x1 , x2 @ x2.

Me tight?. Do you know me?

Some people!!!

i tend to use 2x all the time for quality purposes, we all know how the faster the burn the increased chance of disk errors, and having a crap system dosnt help either

first thanks to everyones omments and suggestions Very Happy

themanwithapc , im goin to try the Datawrite 8x fuji dye , have been recommended these are good elsewhere as well. as for sample packs, you dont get many 8x discs, plenty of 4x , but 4x are not a problem for me , just the 8x.

Lonegun had a look, but nothing on there yet . i got a feeling the 8x ridisc have been marked up wrong by ritek/ridisc, i reckon they are 4x and they have been marked GO5 , i found someone else with a similar problem with these discs.

Lembo unfortunately nothing been posted there yet for this drive,
LG GSA-4120B , so will post my own findings there at the weekend about what i have alredy used sucsessfully.

for anyone reading with the same writer, LG 4120b ,branded A grade 4x ritek, branded A grade 4xdatasafe both with GO4 ritek work fine[/u][/b]

Carl. no problem mate, but to be honest using the appz Flash uses the graph's of the burns are perfect at x2 x4 x6 and x8.

I've tried the RiDisc go3 and Arita go3, both disks have been top notch, and play in all my players without a problem.

I don't trade so these are just for me. The only tell tale sign of burning x8, is the ring at 17% before it switchs to x8 from x6, this can be seen on x8 media also.

Most of the time I use the ritek printables and do them @ x6.

Another thing to remember about checking these dvd-r's with all the appz out there, every reader gives a different graph.

Toshiba 1712 is the worst, this has the hacked firmware on, and best is the liteon 48161 also this has the hacked firmware. They read in at a peak of 16.1, average 10.2. Of course the 105, 106, and 107 reads them back to hd some what slower.

Carl when you said "think that is just bin tight IMHO", then I thought you knew me Razz

Bob
