Langdon Battery, 04.03.07

Visited today with Nik24, Stealth and Cavking.

The lovely man that showed around the place, had so much history info behind it. It was used in WWII as a gun in placement, then the coastgaurd built their building on top of it, for the amazing veiw (of Dover harbour) they get of course, only to find these tunnels and ammunition storage rooms underneath it. It was good to have a look around and I would mind going back some day when the weather is better.

Anyway a few of my photos, the lads will hopefully put some of their photos up later.

I will do a few more posts later of other places I have been to.

Awesome photos from you guys as usual Ali23 Smile

A big thanks to Ali23 and Nik24 for organising this one, not gonna ask how you managed this.

A massive thankyou to our guide at the Coastguard Station for a very detailed and informative tour of the old battery and the Operations room of Dover Coastguard.

OK here are some of mine most taken on fone as I used so many on Tunnels, have now got 1Gb card for cam so can take em by the 1000 Very Happy

Well down we go

Cavking admiring the grafitti in the chalk cut section

Up in the actual control room of Dover Coastguard, what an awesome place, these guys have the best view I've ever seen in a workplace, god knows how they concentrate on the job in hand. Dover as you probably know i the busiest shipping lane in the world, and looking at the screens these guys have to watch was mind-blowing. Great job lads.

A couple silhouette type shots

Some random shots back out side the battery

Excellent tour thanks to some very friendly guys, nothing but respect for them, awesome!
