K&N Air Filter Or K&N57i Induction Kit Advice plz

well, basically im posting here to ask for some advice on the above items as specified, firstly what is the difference between the two ? ive been looking on ebay and both seem to give the same description, ie, more HP & acceleration etc. Does the Air Filter give off the same sound as an induction kit etc ? anyway i wanna know because i would like to buy one or the other, air filter seems cheaper than the induction kit? is this cause its not as good or the induction kit gives you more etc, btw i will be putting this on a Corsa 1.2 16V SXI which is below Razz just wanted to show off my new wheels really lol Razz Thanks

an air filter will fit straight into your air filter box giving about 3-4 bhp an induction kit replaces the box & leaves you a cone air filter which can then pull air in 360 degrees instead of up a pipe as used by the air filter box , induction kit is the more powerful of the 2 , but also the more expensive ,can only guess how much more bhp it would give , 10-15 bhp depending on your exhaust , i see you have a decent back box but it needs to be all the way thru to the manifold if you want the full potential,as what comes in has to go out , you will probably need a retune when you have put the filter on by someone who knows wot they are doin ie resetting petrol flows , uprating injectors ect

warning - any modification or non standard parts not stated on your insurance policy invalidates it(this means you have no insurance) , after market exhaust ,alloy wheels ,lowered suspension ,air filter

a nice induction kit does sound pretty good though!!

Don't bother with a 57i on your engine as the excess heat drawn in from the warm engine bay will only cause more harm than good.
Any sort of induction modification such as this will not give the sort of power gains quoted, the best you are looking at is 1-2 bhp but you should notice a much sharper throttle response and the ironing out of any flat spots throughout the rev range.
I would recommend the filter replacement personally with a drilled standard air box. Basically all you need to do is use a hole cutter to cut 12-15 holes as far from the engine as possible ie. next to the inner wing and the front of the air box. Run a better air feed from the front of your car up to the air box. You could also run an air feed through the plastic wheel arch liner.
Once this is done, disconnect your battery for at least 1 hour, I usually leave it disconnected over night. When you reconnect the battery the ECU will be in learn mode and will adjust your fuelling to the increased air intake thus maximising gains.
All of this combined will see you with just as nice if not nicer roar with higher performance gains.

Any backups supplied to you are on the understanding that you own the original copy, if you do not, then you must destroy the backup copy within 24hrs as a sample copy
