TIP OF THE DAY

Hello everybody

Ever had the problem where your dog gets the runs say no more there is help at hand don't mean to be crude people sometimes you get what looks like a jelly seen well that is when the stomach lining is passed and it exposes hairs on the stomach which become sensitive and that is what causes the tummy upset so what we have to do is put the lining back so here goes

what you do is boil some rice or pasta because that is bland and you can also feed chicken. but feed in a small amount the yoghaurt we need plenty of

Then mix with this some live yoghaurt must be live also known as bio yoghaurt ie a tub that you get from the supermarket. this is what puts the lining back on the stomach and the live cultures in the yoghaurt fights the nasties

do this about 3 times a day and feed the pasta/or rice for about 24 to 36 hours you should see a result. Remember kalin and morphene well you can also give that to, works wounders but remember doses small dogs don't need much as big dogs

see how you get on people let me know your results

Hello m8

good to hear from you first of all the kalene and morhine can be brought from the chemist but is sold as a different product tell the chemist that you want the equivilant to this i carn't remember what it's called now it does work m8 in conjuction with the live yoghaurt but don't OD your pooch if it is a puppy use the child dose on the bottle and don't say it's for your dog otherwise they might not sell it to you.

now on to the peeing and pooping inside we use newspaper each day moving closer and closer to the door you could do this with your training pads Also make sure after each meal out they go and in between time takes time dude remember there babies plenty of time yet to crack it we usually do it in about 1 month

You must keep it up even if your fed up letting them out or you will never master it takes time m8 please let me know remeber after meals staight out an in between and if they do it where they are suppose to it plenty of praise so they know there doing it right as well anyway best of luck m8

Give your dog a bone

GIVE YOUR DOG A BONE
If your going to give your dog a bone never give them cooked bones specially lamb bones

Why because they splinter and can cause damage and big vet bills to get the thing out

If your giving bones use raw ones there soft and the pooches can deal with them also use a bit of common sense don't give large breeds small bones a good sized knuckle bone works a traet and guess what it also helps to clean the teeth

Lamb bones are probably the worst bones to give your dog cooked lamb bones splinter and get caught in the throat always feed raw bones even cooked chicken bones are a hazard aLways feed raw because the bones are shall we say more flexable, bend and are soft where cooked bones are brittle thats why they splinter

IS THAT OF MORE HELP TO YOU MY FRIEND

YOUR DOG GOT SKIN PROBLEMS

Hello All

Are you having skin problems with you pooch when i mean skin problems it when your pooches skin gets what we call hot spots they break out on the skin and cause your dog to chew making the situation worse well we can minimise this heres how

firstly check your dog food see what it contains most foods contain gluten and some dogs not all get a reaction to this causing the problem if you have checked your food and are having this problem take yourdogof it straight away and slowly wean them onto a food which does not contain gluten you should see a difference within a week or 2 you can also add to the food which doesn't contain the gluten a teaspoon of cod liver oil or ground seaweed ask at the health shop also get some tea tree shampoo and bath your dog tee tree is a natural antiseptic and helps stop your dog chewing if your dog as the these wet soars you can also get some hibiscrub from the chemists dilute it well bathe the soar and make sure you dry it well by dabbing the soar not rubbing.

cheers NeWfE

GSD HIP SCORE

HELLO M8
Good to hear from you I'll try to help you here goes

In countries where schemes involve compulsion i.e. that one cannot breed from (and register) specific levels of hip status (as in Scandinavia) or where there is peer and club pressure such that untested dogs cannot be shown (as with the SV) there is evidence of progress. However in the UK and USA where breeders are free to do as they please progress is not usually seen and there is minimal advance. Nevertheless some 70+ % of GSD score 15 or better and thus would experience no problem with their hips.

The GSD covers the full range from 0 to 106 with an arithmetic mean of 18.65 which makes it 13th worst breed (among 75 breeds with at least 40 scored).

In GSD we have a situation in which many breeders use scores higher than breed mean and remember that the mean at which 50% of the breed is obtained is about 4 points lower than the 18.65 or closer to 14 than 19. In addition sires that are not good producers or average producers are often widely used. I am not disputing the fact that features other than hips must be considered and that there are occasions when dogs that are not the best hip animals may have to be used. Nevertheless, HD will only improve by selection for it. Failure to select on a breed scale is a feature of the breeders not the scheme. Most breeders blame the tools ie the dogs but it is their use of the tools ie dogs which is at fault. be selective

when breeding m8 don't just use any old GSD see whats out there go to shows talk to breeders etc and make sure you breed with dogs that have been hip scored under the BVA scheme if not don't touch em alot of people say i don't have a problem the reason for this is that they don't bother so how do you know

is that any help to you m8

Im afraid my problem is a bit of a sick one,we got a little westie in November and weve been feeding him iams, weve now swapped and are feeding him pedigree puppy food but now when he is pooing he is eating it,he tends to eat other dogs poo when he is out walking, the only thing that we have changed is his food,i cant think what else it could be,we are still trying to toilet train him also, one minute he will bark at the back door so we let him out and he wees in the garden but next time he might just wee in the house,we do praise him when he does his bizz outside though.
cheers

hello m8

good to hear from you it is not un common for dogs to eat there poo poo and other alot of dogs will even eat cow and deer poo

Coprophagia, or poop-eating, is very common, and young puppies do this a lot. They will often outgrow it in a matter of weeks. Sometimes dogs do it for nutrients they are lacking in their diets, but if you are feeding a good quality dog food, this is unlikely.

Most of the time it is just because it smells "tasty" (to them). You can try putting tabasco sauce on the piles, but honestly, if you are right there, the best solution is just to pick it up right away.

There is also a powder available, called "Forbid" that has effect of rendering the rendered food distasteful. This works for some dogs well, but not others.

have a word with your vet

Hi newfe, can u help me on this one please.

We have a 2 yr old shitzu (**** being the word these days). Until a couple of weeks ago was the friendliest dog, always willing to play, fight, chase you name it. Now he snarls at anyone going near him. He hasnt bit yet but I have a couple of small kids in the housse and he is getting nastier with them although they think hes playing. But obviously im getting worried. I feed him regular and when im putting out his food he will let me pet him but as soon as i have finished he goes back to the snarling again.

ANy advice would be most welcome

Thanks

scott

Yes i would do what Kip says, that must be horrible with your dog behaving that way, if you dont do something now, something could possbily happen bad, like him lashing out at yourself / wife or kids anytime soon. I dont think hes snarling and growling like Kip says for no reason, he/she may have something seriuosly wrong.

for kermit

hello M8

Treat puppies like babies or should i say think like it is a baby at this stage the puppy is going through a teething stage chewing everything it can get hold of as this is encouraging the teeth to come through exactly like human babies i would suggest chews or soft toys the puppy is young yet and will grow out of it promise please be patient you can also buy anti chew spray which tastes like lemon the dog finds them disgusting. all you do is spry it where it chews you can try that as well go along with the chews frst and soft toys ie rubber 1 see how you go and please let me know

by for now

Regards

NeWfE
