how do i stop her barking at friends and family but keep her barking at intruders.

I have a 13 year old bitch X bred weight is about 20 k. She has been on Propalin syrup for some time now as she suffers from incontinence. Lately she has got worse and I increased the dosage to 2.5ml, but this does not seem to be working and I do not want to give her more as somehow I feel that even this could be too much.
I have got an appointment for the vet next week for her booster injections.
Meanwhile, is there any other treatment that anyone can recommend?
