the extended warrantys are usually a waste of time. u get a 1 year as standard with most items. by the time the year has passed the item is worth half what was paid for it. my mates dad bought a standalone dvd recorder for £140 and they talked him into an extended warranty at £50.... a year later a brand new dvd recorder is £50 in the shops anyway! lol. so in the unlikely event that it will break (it hasnt yet) it costs the same to go and buy a new one.
another friend of mine bought a laptop with printer and some other bits for £349 from pcworld. they talked her into £9.99 a month cover for the laptop for 3 years! and also another £19.99 one off payment for the printer. the printer only costs £39.99 anyway. and the cover for the laptop adds up to another £350!!
anyway, u could try and take it into pcworld and show them and hopefully it will make the horrible noise for them. you might be lucky and they will swap it for one off the shelf. worst scenario is that they will tell u to call sony which u where goin to do anyway. _________________ Any Backup's you recieve from me is under the STRICT understanding, they are destroyed WITHIN 24 Hours!
i had the same problem while back as long as your ps3 is under a year old the shop where purchased has to give u a new ps3 and they will send it back to sony. i bought mine from tesco and they told me it was sony who i had to phone i phoned sony they offered me a re conditioned ps3 i said no chance they told me the seller has to offer me a new one if under a year but many try to get out it but sony will give you a code which u take to seller for them to return it and the seller will give you new one as long as you have reciept but beware if you bought a package with game blu ray etc they may ask for all back and supply the lot new _________________ Any purchases made by me are on the grounds that I own the original, if not the backup will be destroyed within 24 hours.

Hi All...I am on my 4th ps3 now......First 60 gig came from gamestation.I payed cash,It lasted 6 days They refunded me as only had 40 gig versions,wich then wasn`t exceptable for me at the time.And they did test it and done a quick reformat.The others came from tesco.They just swap it over (fi ya got ya receipt)My 3rd ps3 exchanged at tesco....when i got home had someone elses name on the profile....already broke and lasted 2 days (after i formatted and set it up again)Tesco were very good..refunded my original money,so i ordered it online with them again....with wife`s dicount 10% made £30 savings,This one is still going..........................I personally think around christmas time,there was a bad batch? One thing i did notice just b4 they broke,The fan`s were going a lot more than usual?But my son`s has been doing this since day 1...and that 7 months old,No rime or reason.

Yes thanks for that, but i haveleft it for now because it seems to be quite again lol. But what i might do is leave it till the end of the month and just send it to Sony any way and just say the fan and drive is playing up lol see what happens like. _________________ My Refs

lol, yeah can do that m8....just one prob......no ps3...............4 how long though, lol....can`t be without mine lol _________________ All I buy is for my own personal use.
I work in a room with over 30 de-bug machines. Some are louder than others depending on what software they are running at the time, if it's a warm day the fan is full whack most of the time. We have had these since the PS3 launched in Japan, only one has ever went faulty but even that was only the hard drive.
Dunno what you fellas are doing to them! my launch day machine is still going strong. _________________ I only buy backups of software I own. I do not sell backups at all
