Is my DVD-RW drive broke? wrong section i know

I know it's in the wrong place, but I wanted to burn a film on pc for me and the mrs to watch tonight. Basically it's a relatively new samsung ide drive, it reads original discs and copies, but wont blank read cd-r or dvd-r. I've updated the firmware to the latest version and still no joy.

Any ideas or has the drive had it.

Thanks

i know you've done the firmware but have you updated the drivers for the drive as well? and checked in device manager to see if the comp says its working ok?

Yes device manager says it's working fine, but is only displayed as "DVD/CD-ROM drives" device. Not been able to find a driver for it, none on the samsung website and haven't got a copy of the orginal discs that came with it.

Remove the device from device manager and then reboot.

It should self detect and install again - see if that does the trick.

And google the problem with drive model number.

If you have an xbox360 you can either stream the movie from your PC to that OR stick the film on a USB stick and plug that into your 360. In theory this should work on xbox1 with xbmc but I can't get it to recognise the USB stick Sad
