HOLS...Hols...Hols... Wish i could afford one!
Yo!
Mexico is fine, i've been to both Cancun and Alcapolco, both are totally different and both are excellent, we had no trouble except for the hotel bar staff which treated my girlfriend a bit shitty in alcapolco, think it was because she was 20, they didn't really show me any respect either, probably because i was only 22, this was a bit annoying and got my Girlriend down abit, but it by no means spoilt our holiday there.
Caribbean...........What can i say! I've been there in June, July, August, September and January. I've visited, Jamaica, St Lucia, Grand Cayman, Cuba, Dominican Republic & Antigua. They were all excellent holiday's, however, it all depends what kind of holiday your looking for, relaxing, partying, Diving, all inclusive, touring, etc. Some are good for certain things, for example:-
Grand Cayman - Totally safe, quite americanised, amazing Diving and some tourist attraction which includes a turtle farm, bueatiful scenery and thats about it, however, it was still one of my favourites!
St Lucia, not somewhere i would advise travelling around on your own, i'm sure you would get back safely but i wouldn't take the risk, i was onlyt young when there and befriended a local who worked in the hotel, i went through the shanty town with him, total eye opener and very interesting.
Antigua is very similar to St Lucia
Domincan Republic - Remember, there are two side to this island an atlantic side and the Caribbean side, i would stick to the carribean side, beaches and seas are warmer and better, we were at the atlantic side, however, it was still a good holiday and decent weather (in january), some things to do, was safe to go about but i was always suspisious and cautious.
Jamaica, again i was young when here, its not really safe to go out and would recommend for a relaxing holiday in the all inclusive hotel, must see the waterfalls called "Dunns", but on the tour bus.
Cuba - Was excellent, hotel staff (females) were rather moody, havana was good and perfectly safe, lots to do and loads of interesting history!
The Summer time is the most vulrable and most likely to recieve tropical storms, you will generally get rain most days, more often than not it will only last 5 mins, and the rain is warm, got to be careful not to get to drunk at the swim up bar as to forget that you might get electricuted by lightining hiting the pool!!!! i Once whitnessed (In St Lucia) plastic chairs getting lifted up and whirled around which was fun really, i was only 16. We just missed the hurricane in Grand Cayman which struck in September which did some damage.
To conclude.... I would not let the fear of tropical storms put you off and i would not beileve stories you may have heard about Mexicans being unfriendly as generally this is not true. If you go to any of those places you have to try the diving if you havent already, i'll garentee you'll want to take it up as a warm water sport!
Anyways, let me know how you get on!
Catch ya later and have a good holiday!!
