I'd like your help & ideas...........

In order to make this place the biggest of it's kind, we have to make it the best of it's kind Smile

Sooooooo.....

I'd like you all to use this topic to give me ideas of what software you use, would like to use and if anyone fancies writing in depth and detailed guides to any aspect of burning audio (inc screenshots) I'd also like to add a 'how to' section to the audio forum covering everything we possible can.

I'm gonna try and get some software for our users to review so I need to know what you'd like to test.

If this idea takes off we'll do it on all the other forums too, so you guys are the guinea pigs Smile

I use Exact Audio Copy, coupled with Lame (though considering switching to OGG as creates better quality files) to encode all my audio.

I determine what to rip it to via what of music it is, if it's a dance/trance/mixed cd then I'll rip it as one big file and a .cue file so u don't get any nasty pauses if you reburn it to a cd, or if it's a cd with separate tracks unmixed then I'll rip it to the tracks.

It helps when ripping to track to number the files with a preceding 0 so sorting by file name orders them correctly. And also it helps to create a playlist for easily listening to the whole cd.

For burning I use Nero 5.9.9.9, which supports .cue files so I can burn my mixed cds straight off, plus decodes mp3s automatically so makes the process very easy.

For listening to my tunes I use Winamp 3 at the moment, though Winamp 2 is still good, I have a plugin (mp3cue) for Winamp 2 that uses the .cue files as a track listing for the mp3 so I can skip to whichever track i fancy.

Hope this is helpful/what your looking for. Very Happy

That's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for cheers.

If anyone fancies writing any guides as I mentioned, with screenshots of the processes involved it'd be blinding Smile

If you get an error at the end in finalizing status, most times that is NO problem. Most drives only check and read the FIRST TOC of the media and those is written at the beginning...
So, no problems at last, hehe.

I've just acquired a copy of the new Nero 6 Ultra which is excellent for burning music as it now has some new additions.
Nero Wave Editor which allows you to use some pretty professional looking tools to edit your music files and convert them into various formats i.e. aif, aiff, mp3, mp4, vqf, wma andthree types of wav, wave files.
Nero SoundTrax allows you to make your own mixes by using fade and pan tools and also allows you to convert records and tapes to CD.
At present I am just playing with it and trying things out but full and quite detailed user guides are supplied on disc with plenty of screen grabs to help explain.
Even before this version I found that Nero was pretty good compared to most of the others which I had tried but now it's a serious product.
I use MusicMatch Jukebox to replay my music as i like the interface and also the way that you can just double click a file to add it to the playlist is easy.
Will let you know more about Nero 6 after I have used it for a while.
Try it you won't be disappointed.

Cheers!

keep a version of Windoze 9x on one of your PCs
then you can use the hacked version of CDFS.VXD
to allow you to view all your music cds as WAV files
STRAIGHT off the cd.
This is a hack at such a basic level that no copy
protection of any kind can stop it. Do a search for
CDFS.zip or get it from me. WINDOZE 95/98/ME ONLY.

for burning, i use nero 6 ultra edition, as nero supports the burning of .bin files and the using of .cue files (Even though they are not really necessary)

for listening to music, i use windows media player, although i have had to use real one player to view .rm and .rmvb files. Windows media player is good, as it supports a lot of movie files, but for some types of files (mainly ones like avseq01.dat or something l;ike that), i use winDVD 6 platinum, which is an excellent program and is easy to use.

Im using CDex for extracting audio. it has been around for a while.

it will convert Audio to Wav and MP3 OGG and also back again. have been using this for some while now with no problems and my IRiver H140 is just about full.

For burning CDburner XP Pro. (Nothing to do with Windoze) very simple interface and quite easy to use.

Karaoke CD+G Burning Tutorial

Here You Go

You need to install this first or mp3+g toolz wont work: Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1 (http//www.microsoft.com)

Procedure to burn MP3+G with an unsupported MP3+G Burner

(NOTE: Your burner must however be able to write RAW MODE)

Start with normal MP3 & CDG files in its own folder
Next convert these files with Mp3+G Toolz using the mp3+g to bin option
(this will convert the files into the same dir as your original files)

Next choose where you want the .cue file (Alcohol image) to be saved
(normally keeping everything together is the best option)
Next click convert (this should be finished quite quick ? 2 mins max)
Next open Alcohol 120% click on the option image burning wizard
Next locate your .cue file for burning
Next click next

Next choose speed (4 speed max as the graphics break-up on higher speeds)
Next make sure RAW/DOA writing option is choosen
Next choose start
Next there is no next you now have a CD+G CD created on a non-supported writer!!!!!!

Software Used

Mp3+G Toolz (h??p://www.activeaspsoftware.net/default.aspx?p=Product%2fprod&a=e&N_ProdID=3)

To get MP3+G Toolz to work you also need the Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1

Alcohol 120% (http//www.alcohol-soft.com)

Hope this helps.
