slightly more expensive but designed to be used in hard water areas, there are plenty of makes,
i work for the council and we use to fit the £10 types, but now we fit the dearer ones , increased life span by 100%, on average

you can also fit a water softener at the point of entry (stop tap)

we use sonething like this to reduce lime, so the combi boiler does not get clogged up
