Good idea in the interests of sport

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/levy-calls-for-debt-review-981782.html

What ive been saying for a while if anyones read my previous posts, would be good for the whole of football if the league and uefa bring these types of rules into European football.

Why , cos it would benefit your club.
Here's an idea , Why don't your mob just play better and worry less about other clubs.
If they go bust , don't worry it's not your club.

Some people have debts , some don't.
Why should clubs be any different.

Boobla forget your a Chelsea fan for a minute, it would benefit every club, dont forget that chelsea generate a bucketfull of cash now, they would just have to stop running at a loss, its something you can't even deffend mate, i know you couldnt give a toss if you lose £80m a season, thats your choice and what do you care so long as your up there or there abouts, but from a sporting point of view it would be much better for every football fan and clubs in the long run.

err its called sport Boobla, lol
and there not debts there loss's at your club, but thats not the point, if it went to the vote amonst PL chairman i think the'yd go for it, you'd still have the top 4 up there, just perhapes Utd and arsenal would be way ahead untill other clubs built new stadia too.

perhaps a cap on wages would lower the debt of some clubs, and extra money be allocated to lower leagues and grass roots football.

also if a club is in such debt, how comes they can pay out large sums for transfers ?

Putting a cap on wages would then harm the bigger clubs that have built there clubs up like utd and arsenal, chelsea newcastle blah blah, but not letting them run at a loss would help all clubs, that way wages would come down at clubs that could not afford to pay what there payig now.

They pay transfere fees on the never never in stage payments and there performance linked, because banks know what clubs have coming in for the next 3 seasons, they just give them bigger loans or over drafts. all clubs do it.

I don't know about man u, will take them a fair while to get rid of the 800m or so debt they are in. Arsenal debt is a mortgage, some other clubs have similar debt to us. Chelsea's debt could be wiped in minutes all roman has to do is pay his own loan off.
In the prem i think liverpool and man u would be the biggest clubs affected by this kind of ruling though.

Lets just wait and see what Levy does in the January transfer window if/when Spurs are still languishing down in the relegation zone/battle. I think we will see him getting his money out and splashing it around!!! As for Liverpool and Man U, although the debts have been put on the club, they are manageable debts just like any of us have like mortgages, loans, credit cards etc (on a bigger scale of course!!) but it is generally secured on previous and expected future success. Chelsea has been a different proposition altogether though. Abramovich came into a club who had just finished second in the league and pumped in millions to guarantee taking the next step to success. Although this brought in a great deal of money, they do not quite have the worldwide fan base yet to recoup this money and if Abramovich decides to pull out he will ask for this money back and Chelsea would surely have to sell quite a few of their top players (some at a loss to what they paid) and would then see them drop down the table much like Leeds did.

I agree that something needs to be done with the money going into football etc as prices are just going up and up to service the debts but a blanket ban on clubs running up debts is wrong. Like I said, it is just like having a mortgage where as long as you can make the repayments then where is the problem?? Successful clubs can afford higher wages, player fees etc because of the money the success brings and will continue to be successful by attracting the top stars. It is then up to financial directors etc to manage this debt and have contingency plans for any less successful season to stop the club going into financial meltdown (again Leeds springs to mind!!).

they have only built their clubs up by offering money they do not have for players they cannot afford.

another option would be to stop the clubs who are in debt from buying more players until they are solvent. this would stop them buying players to sit on the bench rather than let them play for other clubs.

Take utd for example, they built up slowly, they improved there stadium and generally made a fortune on the success from 6 or 7 youth team players, its not the fans fault that they have been lumped with corporate debt, and they mainly are always in profit, the rules allow anyone buying a plc company to borrow on there investment, then that borrowing is lumped on the company ie Man utd, Levy was talking about corporate debt i think, not Mortgaged loans for stadiums, being in debt isn't a major issue, runnning your club at a loss is basicly unsporting and puts clubs in false positions compared to clubs that manage there finances well.
I know some clubs run at small loss's to save paying tax, but something needs to be done for the good of football, because these debts are paid for by us the genuine fans, and soon we wont be able to afford the ticket prices, shirts, and all the rest of it.
