hello m8 i got married in Bavaro 2 years ago now..at the fiesta bavaro ...think it has changed its name now...was fantastic..food was excellent and loads of varieties....the beaches are pure white and stretch for miles...couldnt fault it one bit...you dont get hassled on the beach for the watersports like some other places.....just come back from sandals ocho rios(sandals are meant to be the best for this kind of thing) and dominican rep absolutely shits on it....try saona island for a day trip....where they film the bounty commercials....fantastic place...all the best with the wedding

If you can, take a trip to Samana for the whale watching. The season runs from mid Jan to mid March. Thousands of Humpback whales gather there & it's amazing to watch. Not like these places where you see one or two (if you're lucky!). We must have seen dozens, including a few jumping right out of the water.

Went in 2003, awesome place like those comments previously left its a real eye opener (you wonder why we complain about the trivial things in our lives) but hey your on holiday.

I really recommend the Outback Safari ( which shows your great sites around the island, even some scenes in the movie Jurassic Park where filmed here)
also the trip to Saona Island must be done, as previously mention this is where the bounty ads have been filmed and it aint to be missed, for me it was what the caribbean was all about. You will travel out to the island either via catamaran or speed boat whichever one your travel out in your return on the other so you get to do both anyway so dont worry. On your return you stop in the middle of the ocean and you all get out, (your actually on a reef and the water is only up to your waste) when out you have some drinks and look for starfish, dont worry if you dont find any the guides will bring you some, oh and yes they are MASSIVE.
