I've personally moved from AVG to NOD32
I installed AVG8 and boy did it slow down my system (and I've had reports of others slowing down too), and the link checker is an absolute pain in the you know what - likes to hang your browser every so often...
But AVG is still a good AV don't get me wrong and I would recommend it, but NOD32 is a joy to use at the moment and like AVG seems to update pretty much everyday too
But of course, there is no such thing as the best antivirus because as we've seen here, there are many opinions, so all I will say is pick what you want and enjoy the safety _________________ >>> Aktiv8 <<<

NOD32 all the way, doesn't use up loads of resources and is fairly bullet proof.
i use this in conjunction with Zonealarm firewall, Pc tools spyware doctor and a few other progs to kepp my machine running well, and they seem to do the trick very nicely.

just been trying out avast for the last week or so this seems pretty good dosent let you do anything without it checking it first d/load from the avast site only though as you have to register to get a valid key but it is free for the home edition

Another Kaspersky fan here, like a lot off folk was always under the impression that Nod32 was one off the best but sadly its something I and others have found not to be true, several pc magazines have not rated Nod32 that well, recently changed from Nod32 to kaspersky, first scan with the new av found four trojans that the other av failed to see. have also had other instances where Nod32 has failed to show up a trojan that an online scan revealled.
everyone has there favourites but peronally found that I put a bit too much trust in Nod32, do agrea thou its very low on systmn resources but at a cost ?? _________________ ** Any software purchased by myself is on the understanding that I own the original and that if not the disc will be destroyed within 24 hours **
