Recently bought this TV with built in freeview

was going to also buy a DVD recorder with a Hard Drive and wanted to know if there is a way that i can record the freeview channels - and if so would the tv have to be on if i wanted to record something?

Without even looking at ur link, it is possible, however your TV must have the ability to assign scarts. This is normally related to Scart 2. What this is, its where u set what emitted from Scart 2 so u can record. Look for a setting called Monitor & set it to that, that way you can connect any scart related recording device to scart socket 2 & record whatever is onscreen

Re ur TV, thats up to u to read thru the menu to find the setting
