Hey all, I need another car for the Mrs as I got a job which means I need to commute weekly. I only want something small which is cheap on the jungle juice.

Anyone recommend a decent car for under £1,000?

I was thinking of a Citroen, but believe they are shite.

only cheap car i would use is a fiesta,firstly decent on petrol and secondly find one at a decent price and when you sell on you get at least your money back.

I think u shud be more specific, i.e. how small an engine do u want? Petrol or diesel? Doors? Age range? Etc.

just got my daughter a car at the auction,
any small car there costs a lot
got her a hyundai accent, cost £160 8 months mot, little bit of tax
know i won't get a price for it hen i sell it, bit its still cheap motoring.
clios etc cost aroung £800
saw a daewoo lanos 51 plate long mot vgc £300
had a lanos myself good car size of an astra
you need to work out how many miles u will do, to see if a diesal is woth getting

Something reliable like an older small Toyota or Nissan OR what ballboy is talking about.

Get a Fiat Punto great little car cheap to run good mpg,£1000 will get a nice one on an X or Y plate,I got my son one two years ago been a little cracker of a car and nice feel to it when driving.More solid than a Fiesta in my opinion.

ford ka
to name a few if you don't go above 1.2 car tax is £66
and don't get above a y plate or you will have to pay higher tax
the best on fuel is the polo followed by the corsa both will do about 43mpg

nissan micra. very reliable and very good mpg.

best bet is try www.autotrader.co.uk. specify £1000 as max price. and then engine size as 1.2. see what pops up.
