Anyone been to Corfu?

Hi everyone, me and the missus are going to Corfu for first time on 18 July. Booked into hotel Afrodite in Roda. This has some great reviews on the holiday forums. Anyone have any sightseeing ideas while we're there (for 2 weeks). Many thanks.

You have to do the water park, its a buzz.. there is loadsa slides and lazy rivers, its dirt cheap and an ace day out..
The kamikaze is crazy, you just keep going up the steps and when you get to the top you look down and c**p yourself, its almost a straight drop until the very last minute and its the most almighty wedgie when you get to the bottom.

You have to visit paleokastritsa on the west coast, the place is breathtaking. There is a monastry on top of a hill looking over the bay and you get the best views in corfu from there. Also take a boat tour around the bay and its full of caves which you drive the boat into, also there are about ten secluded coves which are accessable by boat only. The locals run a boat taxi service to these coves and its the most peaceful two hours on a beach i have ever had..

Have a blast

Just got back today! didn't see a cloud in the 2 weeks I was there.

Very nice island Corfu, and has something for every one from the lively Kavos to the more picturesque northern part of the island, which where Roda is. I was at Sidari (not far from Roda).

As said Island, People, Food and Beer are all great you'll have a great time.

There are a couple of negatives though, Corfu airport can be hell, collecting your cases and the queues, but that said the problems tend to be worse during the day when its busier. been 4 times now twice on day flight and twice on night flight and sailed throught the night flights.

Also the run way is on the sea, so if your a nervous flyer on a day flight (can't see anything on night flight) don't look.

And finaly the transfer to resort (about and hour and half to Roda) is a scary mountain ride, again you can't see anything on night flights.

Hope this doesn't put you off too much because its well worth it, have a great time.

I went to Sidari a while back and loved it , used to spend most of the days around the rocks on the far end of the beach but we did get around to a few places like Kassiopi, Corfu town etc on a scooter.

I know exactly what you mean about the airport runway and then even worse the coach trip to the resort driving around narrow hairpin bends on the wrong side of the road.
