ALL RED RING OF DEATH AND WARRANTY QUESTIONS IN HERE PLEASE!

So, you have the Red Ring Of Death? What to know what to do next? Read on....

Well, what you can do is Phone Microsoft, here are the details:

Assistance by phone:
0800 587 1102

or +44 20 7365 9792 from a mobile phone

Hearing Impaired (TTY device):
0800 587 1103

Hours of operation:
Monday-Friday: 09:00-22:00
Saturday: 09:00-20:00
Sunday: 09:00-17:00


What usually happens is they will arrange collection of your console (DHL). So, you will get you console collected & within around 3 weeks you will have a new/refurbished console delivered back to your door. The console you receive back, may or may not be the one you sent & may already be flashed. Who knows, you will have to wait & see.


WARRANTY:

Instead of having tons of members posting this question, lets do it here!

Basically it's this simple:
You open your console and break the warranty seal...

Warranty is done with. End of story.

Don't believe me? Call Microsoft and ask them! Sure you can always try to send them your voided console hoping they won't notice, but if they do notice, then you probably have to pay for return shipping. They might even make you pay for shipping both ways.

Why won't MS fix my warranty voided console?

Well here is why... You could alter or mess it up worse than it already was or break it yourself. Why should they have to pay for something you broke?

In other words, don't post here asking if Microsoft will fix it. Call and find out for yourself or do what you want to do with the console.

Members on here arent Microsoft and we can't answer your millions of questions about warranties!

im presumming u just mean the contact details of microsoft?, dosent really warrant a sticky though does it?

although i have to agree, there are alot of posts asking what to do... Sad

- They will aks have you tryed X Y Z, Say yea tryed moving to different spots to get better cooling tryed the cooling fans tryed clearing the chache, Go to System Select HDD The Y Button then XX LB RB XX
- Then there aragne UPS to collect it!

you can also do it online via the xbox homepage at http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/

just click on support on the top right...then on "console repair" on the bottom right. once youve registered your device you can click on request a repair. theres even a special form for the red ring of death. probably quicker than listening to someone at customer services asking if you have checked your power supply, video cable, spoken the magic words over the console etc.

microsoft didnt hang around gettin it picked up, they emailed me the returns label. i then rang the UPS number on the label, it was about 1215. they said they can pick it up between 1 and 5pm that same day. just after 1pm UPS picked it up. didnt even take an hour! i hope they get it back to me just as quick.lol Very Happy

Just a quick question:

If I have had my 360 flashed nad the wrranty seal broken to do this, which needs to be done and I get the Red Ring of Death on my console is it unfixable and the console nakered?

Let me know asap so i can get a new one if needs be

well...microsoft sent the xbox back just as fast too!! with a note sayin that they dont fix "tampered" xboxes. (mine had been opened to flash it) ive read on here that some people have had flashed xboxs fixed under warranty so thought it was worth a try. mayb theyve got fussier on what they repair. possibly might be worth ringing microsoft and explaining that it was opened to attempt a repair or to aid cooling. they might make exceptions if a good excuse is given.

EDIT

ive opened up the xbox and it seems that they started to repair it, i think that they refused to fix it because i had put artic silver compound on the chips to aid the cooling. so posssibly they would of fixed it if i hadnt of done that. ive managed to fix it myself anyway...took about an hour Smile

Have Microsoft extended the standard warranty due to the volume of returned faulty xboxes?

Didn't think it sounded likely but someone told me they had.

I'm thinking of getting a box and not sure whether to get an Elite. Are they as susceptible to problems?

it cannot read any dvds or games - gives the statement 'unplayable disc please check if it is a Hd dvd'

just had 3 red lights so left it off for 5 mintues and turned back on and its fine
