mine just keept frezzing, its been 22days and i rang them up thinking maybe its been so long as they aint fixing it, but touch wood and fingers crossed they said its comign back monday he could confim.

Just send it back if its nakerd nothing to lose.

got the 3 red lights again but this time no screen or nothing do you think if i sent it to moicrosoft even though i have had it firmwared they would still fix it i cant exactly ring up and tell them its had a firmware put on.or i know someone who puts a new fan in and sorts the problem out for £49.99 what would you do?

i also had "unrecognised disk" and "unreadable disk" problems....if i turned it off for 5mins or so then they worked again. then when it happened i noticed that the game disk was very hot! i think the heat from the GPU heatsink was heating up the dvd drive and either slightly warping the disk or affecting the lens...anyway, i got a £4.99 80mm fan from pcworld and placed it on the side blowin air into the xbox (the hardrive side) it jus about squeezes onto the side an the case holds it in place. i already have an internal fan so wired it into that. never got the problem again. plus the disks feel much cooler now when i take them out.

so basically try find some way to cool down the xbox Smile another idea is to get one of those laptop coolers that work from the USB port. sit the xbox on it , that might cool it down enough to stop the errors.

my sons chipped xbox had the dreaded 3 red rings of death, it was 18 months old, with the warranty seal broken
i phoned microsoft, told them i had opened the xbox to try and clear out any accumalated dust (possible overheating being the problem) they took the xbox back, repaired it, sent it back to me, firmware still hacked

xbox works fine, still plays backups

happy days Very Happy

not saying it will all be as easy as that for anyone else , but worked for me

I Have a 360 with the 3 red lights on it yer and have lots of backups for this yer all im trying to find out is
if i buy new 360 with the latest firmwear on it will this new machine still play my old backups ?????

I had the ring of death, sent it back even thought it was flashed. Got it back about 3 weeks later with a new motherboard and dvd drive. Getiing it re-flashed woohoo!!

A friend of mine bought a xbox the xmas before last with 12 months warranty.2 weeks after the warranty ran out he has now got the dreaded 3 red lights.Does anyone think he could get his console repaired free of charge from microsoft.His console has not been modded in any way.

ring of death

Cant believe it, ive only had my 360 back for 4 weeks and its went tits up again!!! Ring of death on the front. Xbox say i have to send it back again and they will give me a crappy game as a goodwill gesture!!!

Returning an knackered XBOX360

OK, my machine has been opened to replace the drive.
Was a like for like swap and has the same drive in as originally, with my firmware board attached.
Now I have a prob where the colours are all shot, get a yellow colour all way through when playing anything.
The MS foil is removed (and I already read the sticky)


any chance I can send this back MS to get fixed or am I fooked ??
just thinking of saying - as it was over a year old I had to get the drive repaired and didnt realiise there was warranty left on the machine
now has 3 rings ??

Any comments

Hi m8, It is only 3 year warranty on RROD... Your "colours playing up" warranty is gone after 1 year.

aye - was going to play the " it gets three lights after playing for a while, and it resets when I reboot the xbox360" line ???

Munamunamike I sent mine back a few weeks ago without the security sticker

and had it back and repaired within 2 weeks...It seems to be hit and miss if

they fix it or not but the CANNOT keep your console...

The worst that will happen is they will send it back unfixed...

And don't mention anything to them about firmware...

Has to be worth a go mate...
